DoubleTree’s Chocolate Chip Cookie, Ikea’s Swedish Meatballs and now the Waldorf Salad. You don’t need to be staying in an iconic destination to enjoy an iconic dish. Waldorf salad is named for the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City, where it was first created for a charity ball given in honor of the St. Mary’s Hospital for Children on March 14, 1896.
1 cup celery, thinly sliced
1 red apple, chopped
1 green apple, chopped
1 cup walnut, chopped
10 grapes, halved
Dressing:
6 tablespoon plain yogurt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Pinch of salt and pepper
Set up:
Lettuce chopped
- Mix apple, celery, grapes, and walnuts.
- In a medium sized bowl, whisk together yogurt, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
- Serve on a bed of fresh lettuce.
